The building was designed and constructed in order for a part of it to be used as a department of South Crete Property in Kamilari. The project as a whole includes two independent ground floor offices/commercial halls and two underground storage rooms.
The minimal style of South Crete Property Designers is expressed in the clear and simple lines of the structure. White dominates on its vertical surfaces with the exception of the Sahara Gray aluminum frames that blend harmoniously with the Gray Matte floor tint. Coated with 60x60 tiles, floors deliver the exceptional quality and elegance of Italian design. The extensive use of the same tile inside and outside the building combined with the large openings of the frames make the boundaries between the interior and exterior indiscernible so that the spaces are an extension of the natural landscape. The concrete pergola permits the natural ventilation and cooling of the area covered and the natural lighting of the neighboring interior. At the same time it gives the characteristic striped shading by the switching of the shade and the sunlight, achieving the more harmonious connection of the covered spaces with the outdoor ones. The selection of materials complements the contemporary architectural style and at the same time responds to the desired functionality, strength and purity of the lines.
The single building is divided into two volumes, one larger and one smaller, in order to optimally adapt to the natural terrain. It has a north orientation ideal for the intense Greek sun, so the interiors enjoy plenty of natural lighting through the openings. Natural lighting and ventilation is also achieved in the underground storage rooms via cour-anglaise. The access to one basement is provided with an internal staircase within the one office/store, while the access to the second basement is achieved independently of the other rooms with an outside door just below the second office/store.
A representative piece of modern architecture that combines elegance with functionality.
